At FOIA Document Source, we offer transparent and competitive pricing for our comprehensive Custom FOIA request services. Here’s a breakdown of our fees:
Requesting Fee
$149 per request
For a one-time fee, we process, submit, and manage your FOIA request to the appropriate agency. Our experienced team ensures that your request is accurately prepared and submitted promptly.
Additional Agency Fees
Due to the fact that agency fees vary greatly and are based on the number of hours it takes to search for and prepare requested documents, agency fees up to $50 are included in the initial requesting fee. Any fees beyond this amount will be added to your final cost and can include:
- Search Fees: Costs associated with the time spent by the agency to locate the documents.
- Research Fees: Fees for the agency's efforts in reviewing and redacting sensitive information.
- Other Fees: Any additional charges imposed by the agency for processing your request.
Unless the customer asks for a different limit for agency fees at the time of request, we set the auto-approval at $150. Agency fees can range from $0 to thousands of dollars.
Once the fees exceed $150, the agency will notify us of the estimated charges, and we will seek your approval to proceed. You will be required to prepay the estimated amount to keep the request active.
Content Charges
Content charges are based on the size of the documents received from the agency. This ensures you only pay for what you receive.
- 1-25 pages: $0.00
- 26-100 pages: $69.95
- 101 - 500 pages: $149.95
- 501+ pages: $229.95
Example Pricing Scenario
For a typical FOIA request, here’s an example of how the costs might add up:
- Requesting Fee: $149
- Agency Search Fee: $14.50 (varies by document type)
- Agency Research Fee: $100 (varies by hours required to process the document)
- Total Agency Fees: ($14.50 + $100) - $49 = $65.50
- Content Charge: If the document received is 150 pages: $149.95
- TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $149 + $65.50 + $149.95 = $364.45
