Built on a belief in
public transparency.
We believe in the power of transparency and the public's right to know. FOIA Document Source exists to make Freedom of Information Act records more accessible — especially in the regulatory and pharmaceutical space where they matter most.
Founded by a journalist with a science background and years of experience writing for the pharmaceutical industry, FOIA Document Source was built on firsthand knowledge of how hard it can be to find, file for, and obtain federal records.
Public FOIA logs contain a detailed history of what has been requested, released, and denied. That information is valuable — but it has never been easy to navigate. We built the infrastructure to change that: a searchable database of 64,000+ FDA FOIA requests, a document store of already-released records, and a service to file new requests anonymously on your behalf.
Transparency
Public records exist to be used. We make them easier to find, access, and act on.
Accountability
In the regulatory space, access to information is access to accountability.
Anonymity
Your right to request public records shouldn't require disclosing who you are or why you're asking.
Accuracy
Every record in our database is sourced directly from official FDA FOIA logs.
