Request Pricing

At FOIA Document Source, we offer transparent and competitive pricing for our comprehensive FOIA request services. Here’s a breakdown of our fees:

Requesting Fee

This base fee covers the processing and submission of your FOIA request to the appropriate agency. Our experienced team ensures that your request is accurately prepared and submitted promptly.

Additional Agency Fees

In addition to our requesting fee, you may be responsible for any fees charged by the agency handling your FOIA request. These fees can include:

  • Search Fees: Costs associated with the time spent by the agency to locate the documents.
  • Research Fees: Fees for the agency's efforts in reviewing and redacting sensitive information.
  • Other Fees: Any additional charges imposed by the agency for processing your request.

We set the auto-approval for agency fees at $150. However, agency fees can range from $0 to thousands of dollars, so we will always ask your permission for charges above this limit.

Once the fees exceed $150, the agency will notify us of the estimated charges, and we will seek your approval to proceed. You will be required to prepay the estimated amount to keep the request active.

Content Charges

Upon-Delivery Content Charges are based on the size of the documents received from the agency. This ensures you only pay for what you receive.

  • Base Content Fee (1-25 pages): $69.95
  • Each additional page is $1.00 (capped at $3,000)

NOTE: You never pay for fully-redacted pages.

Example Pricing Scenario

For a typical FOIA request, here’s an example of how the costs might add up:

  1. Requesting Fee: $149
  2. Agency Search Fee: $14.50 (varies by document type)
  3. Agency Research Fee: $20 (varies by hours required to process the document)
  4. Content Charge:
    • If the document received is 65 pages: $69.95 (first 25 pages) + 40 pages x $1.00 = $109.95

Total Estimated Cost: $149 + $14.50 + $20 + $109.95 = $293.45
